Great Lakes Boatbuilding Company has been producing small wood boats since 1985. The shop is run by expert boat builder Mike Kiefer who is currently building stock dinghy's for yachtsmen and Whitehall rowing and sailing boats as day sailers. The boats are built to the highest standards in wood construction and are beautiful, strong and long lasting.

Custom boats are also built and Mike will quote on your favorite design.

One of Mike's 14 Dad's Ol Outboard Skiff is the subject of a feature article 
in the Woodenboat Publications (www.woodenboat.com)  new magazine SMALL 
BOATS on news stands this December. Woodenboat Magazine editor, writer and 
one of Mike's former boatbuilding students , Karen Wales, traveled all the 
way to Iowa to see customer George Jepson this  past summer. She interviewed 
George about the boat, took pictures and rode around in the vessel for the 
article.
